Dobbs: Lame ducks in a row

By Lou Dobbs
CNN

NEW YORK (CNN) -- President Bush isn't the only lame duck in our nation's capital. All 435 congressmen are up for re-election next year, and so are 34 of our senators. That's a total of 469 lame ducks, the way I see it. It's beginning to look like the American people may finally have had a bellyful of elected officials who do little more than shill for lobbyists, ignore the interests of America's citizens and perpetuate rather than solve the problems facing this nation.

Could it be that we are seeing the awakening of the American people to the political charade that has been perpetrated for too many years by both political parties in Washington? We must do more than hope. Read more here.

Ron Paul sets a new web record on Technorati

July 10, 2007
Posted by Tex MacRae at July 10, 2007 05:34 PM

I've been a blogger for years and my Technorati account dates back to March of 2004. But, I've never seen anything like the sustained presence of Ron Paul in the Technorati top search terms. The Paris Hiltons and iPhones come and go and YouTube is almost always at the top. But a politician? When has that ever happened before? According to a Technorati spokesman, never.

As for comparable searches on potential presidential candidates, interestingly enough, there aren't any. Ron Paul has had the longest stint in our top searches out of all candidates. Mike Gravel had a quick stint, he's another grass-roots Web campaigner. But aside from that and a few blips when Obama, Clinton, and Edwards uploaded YouTube videos or after the debates, Ron Paul has been the most sustained top search for political candidates.

About the sustained trajectory of Ron Paul's popularity in the blogosphere, here's what Technorati's spokesman had to say:

"Ron Paul" was relatively unsearched-for term, until...

-May 4, when he became a popular (but not top) search.

THEN on...May 8, his popularity quadrupled and he became an official top search (thus entering the online zeitgeist, you might say), all building up to May 15-16, when he became really really hot (peaking on the 16th), and has since been enjoying a steady stream of searches. Read more here.

A Message From Ron Paul

July 9, 2007

A local TV station just called, wanting to follow up on the Sunday ABC interview. Their stated reason: "Your campaign is really picking up steam!"

Darn right, thanks to you and so many others. Of course, some in the media want to see this campaign lose steam. But they’re not going to get their way.

I know that every day: for example, whenever I attend one of our big, enthusiastic meetup groups.

As I look around, I always think: how lucky I am to be part of such a movement. And how many young people care deeply about our ideas.

A friend of mine used to wonder what would become of our movement when all the older members of it passed on. Now, he says, there is no doubt that we are sowing the seeds of an even more vibrant and principled freedom movement. The future can be bright indeed.

At a rally in Nevada the other day, I asked a husband and wife how they had gotten interested in this campaign. "Though our 13-year-old son," they told me.

Remember the complaints that kids were addicted to TV and video games, and ignored the world around them? There are plenty who don't fit that bill. And the tool in their hands and ours is the internet. With it, we can circumvent the biased media.

Later this week I go to Google—perhaps the nerve center of the internet—at the company's invitation, to talk to all their employees. Brilliant young techies are part of our constituency, and I am looking forward to that visit. There are two rallies too.

Won't you help keep our internet campaign going and growing? Please aid me in traveling to our rallies, and in getting the word out in every way possible. Make your most generous donation https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/.

This campaign is picking up steam. But the engine needs fuel. Please join me https://www.ronpaul2008.com/join/ in this great endeavor for America's future.

Sincerely,

Ron

Dinesh D'Souza Calls Out Ron Paul...

Is Ron Paul a Real Libertarian?

Posted Jul 10th 2007 9:26AM by Dinesh D'Souza
Filed under: Iraq, Middle East, History

This past weekend I debated Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul on the war in Iraq. The event was FreedomFest, the annual libertarian gathering in Las Vegas, with C-Span and about a thousand people in attendance. It was billed as a Libertarian v. Conservative debate: Larry Abraham and Dinesh D'Souza for the conservative side, and Doug Casey and Ron Paul for the libertarian side.

So here is question for Ron Paul: shouldn't the United States do what it can to promote liberty worldwide? I posed this question and Paul answered that America should be an example of liberty and not try to impose freedom by force. Alas, where freedom has come to countries it has usually come by force. How did we get freedom in this country? We had a revolution. Read more here.

"2007 Summer of Freedom" is Manifesting!

Peace marchers of the loneliest kind
Teens' 3,000-mile trek to D.C. is a rally of 2

LOVELAND, Colo. -- Against the majestic backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, in the far eastern corner of Colorado where the land begins to flatten into a vast golden prairie, two teenagers trudge along the weed-bitten edge of an isolated highway. Blistered and sunburned, they endure wind, rain and searing heat. But still, they slog forward in what has become a quixotic journey across the country in an effort to end the Iraq war. Ron Paul at Google

At the invitation of that great capitalist enterprise, Ron Paul will tour the Google campus on Friday, July 13, make a YouTube, and deliver a company-wide address to all employees, in person and by streaming video around the world. It is rumored that after Hillary Clinton's unfortunate appearance, the Paulists at Google--apparently a huge group--asked for Ron. Of course, he has by far the best record in DC on protecting the web and web companies from federal meddling. I'll be tagging along, and will live photoblog from this historic event. Ron Paul PWNS George Stephanopoulos

Watch interview here.

It's quite obvious to me this was an attempted hit/smear of Ron Paul, though it was indirect.. Check George's demeanor at the beginning of the interview.. He is smugly confident, arrogant in his belief that he will be able to trick RP into looking like a cad.. Read more here.

Joe Scarborough does a nice job of interviewing Paul. It's always fun decrying the mainstream media, but we should also remember to thank someone for giving out candidate a fair shake. Scarborough's email is: joe@msnbc.com

Ron Paul's online money machine

By Lee McGuire / 11 News

Ron Paul may not be leading in the presidential polls, but he has raised a lot of money.
In an unimposing bank building rising behind an unimposing donut shop - is Representative Ron Paul.

He’s the Lake Jackson congressman, who quietly admits to wondering how he’s gotten so much attention. “I just don’t know and nobody knows, but all I can say is, the reception has been many, many fold greater than I ever dreamed.”

On the Internet, more surfers look for Republican Ron Paul than for Paris Hilton, or the iPhone.

And so many people have found their way to his campaign’s donation page. Click here to read more and vote for Ron Paul now!!

Youtube Promotional Videos: Barack Obama vs. Ron Paul

July 9th, 2007 by Mark

Ron Paul is the undisputed “internet candidate”, but he’s not the only one to get a boost from Youtube. Barack Obama has also been able to turn the net to his advantage, largely due to his mild anti-war stance. Despite the vast number of political connections and pre-built fundraising infrastructure that Hillary Clinton has at her disposal, Obama has beaten her out as the top fund raiser. The internet is almost certainly the reason. Read more.

'Ron Paul Will Win in New Hampshire'

That was in effect the prediction of Joe Scarborough this morning on MSNBC, after he interviewed an eloquent, confident, and very presidential Ron. "Ron Paul will surprise everyone in New Hampshire" was what Joe said, but victory was what he meant. Read more.

Our Nation’s Tax on the Poor

Right now, there are very few politicians who have this understanding. Ron Paul teaches about it continually, and I am extremely impressed with his ability to hold his own in any situation. Last night I looked over at Nathan after watching his interview with Stephanopolis, and it just clicked with me.

Ron Paul has a clear conscience. He will go on any show and speak forth these truths (and a host of others) because he has nothing to hide. He has walked his political career with integrity, he understands the economy, he understands history and wants to restore this great Republic.

Lord, help him. Read more.
