Potential Chicago Mayor Bill "Doc" Walls Attends Private Chicago Screening

Last night we got a surprise visit from Bill Walls - they call him "Doc" - who's making a bid to run against Daley in the upcoming Mayoral election. This may seem to be an impossible - ie. wishful - task, but with former Governor George Ryan recently found guilty on all counts and federal corruption investigations well underway against Mayor Daley....you just never know what could happen here in Chicago.

Bill attended the screening with his lovely wife, Pamela, and one or two of his campaign associates. After the screening, we invited him to speak to the group of some 20+ individuals in attendance. He voiced his support of Aaron, Aaron's movie and the central points about the growing trend toward government-corporate fascism as covered in the film. Bill is a very articulate, well-dressed, well-educated individual who's is no stranger to the history and issues covered by Aaron's film.

Afterward I conferenced Aaron into a call with Bill Walls and one of the individuals who invited Bill to the screening. Aaron and Bill seemed to hit it off very well on the phone and Aaron committed to coming to Chicago to work in support of Bill's candidacy for mayor.

I personally volunteered to support Bill Walls campaign. I asked him if he was willing to set a great precendent in support of transparency and accountability of goverment - ie. agree to be video'd while working as mayor. He answered by saying that he's already gone on record as having said that he would be willing to have a video camera record every interaction and event in his office - LIVE - while he was mayor. He even went so far as to say that he'd agree to be video recorded while he was out of the office, etc.

I don't live in Chicago, but Bill certainly has my "vote".

Pretty amazing evening. A very influential black minister and some of his people were also in attendance at the screening. Aaron spoke with this gentleman prior to the screening as well as today.
